SoBran is seeking a Program Manager to provide contract management and operational oversight for the National Institutes of Health Division of Veterinary Resources.   

Overview:  Responsible for the operational and administrative duties of the animal care and use program as directed by the National Institute of Health (NIH) Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR).

Description of Duties:

  1. Manage contract performance and deliverables, including identifying and correcting potential facility issues, creating/revising SOP’s, analyzing labor hours and budgets, creating action plans to manage multiple tasks, evaluating operation productivity, and providing continual improvement opportunities.
  2. Supervise, manage, train and direct the day-to-day activities for a team of >100 personnel, including identifying and recruiting quality candidates to fulfill contract needs, scheduling, performance planning and management, retention, and disciplinary actions.
  3. Train, mentor and assess managers and supervisors, and provide them with the proper resources to perform, report and submit required contract documentation.
  4. Evaluate and determine training needs, facility infrastructure, operational concerns, and quality of work.
  5. Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with representatives of government, research, and contract personnel in order to coordinate activities and assist in investigations into matters concerning quality and client complaints.
  6. Create and maintain reports and communication between multiple stakeholders and working groups.
  7. Train, maintain, and report on occupational health and safety programs established by the client and SoBran policy and procedures.
  8. Apply specialized knowledge and skill in support of multiple species, transgenic models, biohazards, critical care, and surgery as it pertains to technical, husbandry, care and housing requirements.
  9. Assist investigators with protocol requirements such as equipment needs, special husbandry considerations. 

 Qualifications:

  1. B.S. degree in Animal Science, Biology or similar discipline required (or CMAR certification in lieu of B.S degree).
  2. 8+ years’ experience as a Laboratory Animal Facility Manager in a multi-species AAALAC accredited facility.
  3. Applied knowledge of lab animal species and behavior for rodents, rabbits, new and old world non-human primates, swine and zebra fish, to include medical terminology, technical and husbandry procedures, and GLP’s.
  4. 8+ years’ experience managing animal care teams of over 100 employees, including recruiting, scheduling, performance planning, and disciplinary actions.
  5. Experience performing QA/QC of multiple facilities and SOP compliance.
  6. Knowledge of designing, planning and organization of disaster preparedness documentation and emergency procedures for government closures. 
  7. Ability to work with Microsoft software programs.
